Template:Steamrunner Class Designed for combat and bearing the namesake of John Paul Jones' famous frigate, the USS Bonhomme Richard was originally commissioned as a vessel of the line for the ongoing Dominion War, however she never saw service in that capacity. Equipped as an assault frigate, the ship had little to do by the time her construction was finished in 2377, as the war had ended in 2375. As such, the ship was transferred to Solas Tempus under the Kappa Protocol.

Now reentering Solas Tempus service in lieu of new threats, the Bonhomme Richard is captained by Tal Ravis and carries a wide variety of auxiliary craft in order to effectively project force and conduct planetary assaults and landings.

Special Modifications

In addition to the refit by Solas Tempus according to the Refit Guidelines, the vessel's interior has been significantly altered to allow for a larger hanger deck below the main shuttle bay deck. A standard small craft complement contains 10 fighters, including the station's CAP, and up to 47 shuttlecraft of different types.

Most of the ship's systems are automated in order to cut down on the number of crewmen required to operate the vessel, allowing it to embark over 117 Marines. Facilitating the deployment of these Marines are specialized Type 6 Shuttle Craft.

Auxiliary Craft

The Type 6 shuttle Hellbringer, serial no. 63103-63.
The Type 6 shuttle Kodiak, serial no. 63107-63.

Trivia

The ship's registry number, 61779, is a combination of two historically significant events. 6, the first number, comes from the Wasp-class Amphibious Assault Ship USS Bonhomme Richard, LHD-6, while 1779 is the year that John Paul Jones was given the command of Duc de Duras, which was later renamed to Bonhomme Richard after Benjamin Franklin's pen name, Good Man Richard.
