DPX-09 Compressed Positron Beam Pistol

From Solas Tempus DB

This early-development prototype is a scaled down pistol version of the DRX-23 Compressed Positron Beam Rifle. It uses the same power source of a hydrogen cartridge feeding a particle collider to produce a coherent stream of positrons. While this model has a more limited range, its destructive power is surprisingly potent for such a small and light weapon.

Effects

The positron beam interacts with the matter of the air and other devices decomposing the matter intro hyper-ionized plasma forming a plasma front preceding the positron beam. The plasma front expands rapidly upon impact with the target and super heats it to intra-solar temperatures. This is followed by the positron beam with rapidly decomposes the matter it contacts into more hyper-ionized plasma with causes a cascade effect to explosively decompose matter upon impact.
