|
A refitted Miranda-class destroyer assigned to the Yomizhao Kharuun Terminal, the Axiom Valiant is a dedicated military research vessel tasked with supporting the study of the lost Kharuun civilization and defending the outpost against external threats. Heavily modified for long-duration operations in remote sectors, the vessel features reinforced sensor suites, an enhanced computational array for data analysis, and an upgraded weapons package to contend with potential hostiles drawn to the station’s discoveries.
Special Capabilities
- Kharuun Signal Analysis Suite: Equipped with an advanced subspace signal processor, the Axiom Valiant can intercept, decode, and triangulate ancient transmissions linked to the vanished Kharuun civilization. This system allows for rapid on-site analysis before relaying data back to the outpost.
- Variable-Configuration Probe Deployment System: The ship houses a modular probe bay capable of launching customized drones for planetary surveys, deep-space reconnaissance, and environmental mapping. These probes are crucial for studying the ruins without direct interference.
- Integrated Combat Adaptation Framework: Due to its proximity to an unstable region of hyperspace, the Axiom Valiant possesses an adaptive shield matrix and variable-frequency phaser emitters designed to counter unknown threats, including possible incursions from rogue actors and anomalies linked to Kharuun technology.
Mission
The Axiom Valiant serves as both a scientific and security asset to Yomizhao Kharuun Terminal, balancing its duties between archaeological research and military defense. Its key objectives include:
- Deep-Space Signal Analysis: Assisting in the detection, decryption, and interpretation of ancient Kharuun transmissions.
- Expeditionary Support: Transporting personnel and equipment for planetary and deep-space research.
- Tactical Security Operations: Conducting patrols around the Yomizhao Kharuun Jump Gate to deter unauthorized access and hostile incursions.
- Long-Range Surveying: Mapping the system’s hyperspace instability to prevent future navigation hazards.
Crew
Commanding Officer: Captain Deylan Rho (Male, Alaundari, 47)
- A former Solas Tempus fleet analyst, Deylan is a composed and highly methodical officer. His Alaundari heritage grants him heightened cognitive processing, making him an exceptional strategist and data interpreter.
- Towering at 1.98 meters with deep violet skin and reflective silver eyes, he has an imposing yet approachable presence.
- While fiercely dedicated to his mission, Deylan harbors a deep fascination with ancient civilizations, frequently studying Kharuun symbology and comparative cultural structures in his limited downtime.
Executive Officer: Commander Vesna Talvek (Female, Human-Centauran, 42)
- A decorated operations specialist, Vesna is responsible for the ship’s day-to-day functionality, managing personnel assignments and mission coordination.
- Short but athletic, with auburn hair and Centauran luminescent tattoos that react to her emotional state.
- Prefers pragmatic solutions over abstract theories, often balancing Deylan’s academic tendencies with tactical realism. In her spare time, she enjoys holo-simulated ancient warfare recreations.
Master Systems AI: Lieutenant Orlan Vex (Male-Presenting AI, 12)
- A self-learning AI designed for scientific applications, Orlan Vex is unusually expressive for a synthetic entity, often engaging the crew in philosophical discussions about lost civilizations and the nature of time.
- His avatar appears as a holographic figure with shifting translucent skin, subtly displaying historical glyphs as a form of visual communication.
- Despite his research-oriented programming, Vex takes great pride in the ship’s defensive systems, optimizing them against potential threats.
History
Originally built in 2289 as the Starfleet vessel USS Axiom Valian (NCC-18941) she was among the last first-generation Miranda-class ships before the widespread adoption of the Miranda Refit model. After decades of service as a border patrol vessel, it was decommissioned in 2361 before being recommissioned and heavily refitted by Solas Tempus in 2385 for deep-space scientific operations. Solas Tempus rechristened the ship to the STV Axiom Valiant with a new registry of TOV-7943.
Service History from Starfleet
- 2290: The Tomed Incident: The Axiom Valiant was part of a task force assigned to monitor escalating tensions with the Romulan Star Empire. While patrolling near the Neutral Zone, the vessel detected subspace anomalies indicative of clandestine Romulan activity. Though unable to prevent the catastrophic events leading to the Treaty of Algeron, the Axiom Valiant provided critical intelligence that shaped Starfleet's response.
- 2292: Khitomer Accords Escort: Assigned to the diplomatic security detail for the historic peace negotiations between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, the Axiom Valiant escorted key Federation diplomats to the proceedings. When an assassination attempt on the Klingon delegation was uncovered, the crew played a vital role in exposing a rogue Starfleet-Klingon conspiracy aimed at derailing the accords.
- 2293: Praxis Shockwave Response: Following the explosion of the Klingon moon Praxis, the Axiom Valiant was among the first Starfleet vessels dispatched to aid in relief efforts and monitor for potential destabilization of the Klingon Empire. The ship assisted in evacuating survivors from outlying colonies and provided atmospheric stabilization assistance to Qo'noS.
- 2294: Beta Stromgren Expedition: The Axiom Valiant participated in an exploratory mission to Beta Stromgren, studying the final stages of a dying star. The ship provided long-range sensor telemetry to Starfleet Science, contributing to a greater understanding of stellar collapse and its effects on surrounding space.
- 2296: The Tzenkethi Skirmish: The vessel engaged in a brief but intense skirmish with a Tzenkethi raiding force encroaching upon a Federation border colony. Using advanced tactical maneuvering and strategic subspace communications disruption, the Axiom Valiant successfully repelled the incursion with minimal casualties.
- 2301: Decommissioning and Mothballing: Following years of distinguished service, the Axiom Valiant was decommissioned and placed in reserve status. The ship was transferred to the Surplus Depot Z15, where it remained in storage until its eventual recommissioning and refit by Solas Tempus nearly a century later.
Service History with Soals Tempus
Solas Tempus took possession of the vessel on April 19th, 2385 and began an extensive refit of the vessel at the Ronin Shipyards in the Markab Star System. The vessel was refit extensively for a full year before it was ready for initial testing. It took until 2387 before the vessel was deemed ready for full service and assigned to the Yomizhao Kharuun Star System under the command of Yomizhao Kharuun Terminal.
- 2387: The Kharuun Subspace Echoes: While escorting a research team to a Kharuun ruin site, the Axiom Valiant detected a repeating subspace signal linked to an ancient distress beacon. Analysis revealed partial star charts indicating long-destroyed celestial formations, suggesting the Kharuun may have mapped hyperspace corridors vastly different from modern routes.
- 2388: The Outpost Siege: A pirate fleet attempted a coordinated strike on Yomizhao Kharuun Terminal, likely seeking control over the system’s hyperspace gate. The Axiom Valiant engaged in a prolonged skirmish, utilizing its combat adaptation systems to outmaneuver and neutralize the raiders.
- 2389: The Hyperspace Rift Incident: During an experimental survey of anomalous energy fluctuations near the Yomizhao Kharuun Jump Gate, the ship encountered a sudden gravitational disturbance, temporarily disabling its warp drive. A daring operation led by Commander Vesna successfully restored power, narrowly avoiding a catastrophic collapse of local space-time.
