<startFeed /> The setting of Solas Tempus / Blazing Umbra goes through changes on occasion, some of these impact the future and some have to be retconned in. This is a change log for various changes to the setting, focusing on changes that had to be retconned into the back-story.

Station Design & Other Ship Classes

While deleting some unused channels, there is no longer an arboretum on the station, but rather now the promenade garden area is the closest to that on the station. The location of the arboretum is now hydroponics for growing food and the like.

In addition, we'll probably not be using the Oberth Class Starship anymore in game play, in favor of Nova Class Starship, since we have the designs now and the ship design is just much better.

SS Olam Starship Class

The SS Olam was originally an Oberth Class Starship, due to some RP changes going on I decided to have it be a Nova Class Starship instead as it seems to fit with the character better. As the ships class had not really ever come up in game previously, it likely changes very little to retcon it rather than create an entirely new ship and arrange for what happened to the old one. Bad Choices

A few players made a bad call with pursuing a storyline which involved recording another characters intimate moments. After realizing how badly this was turning out, all players involved agreed to remove it and retcon that the encounter never happened. Wording was also added to our rules and our Role Playing Guide to explain that at times if an act in character is deemed bad enough, the character could be removed from play just entirely in character to salvage the integrity of the role playing as a whole. Combadge / Communicator

I had never intended for combadges to be used in the game really, they are a rather Startrek trope that I never overly cared for. Sure easier to use but also too small, too compact. If one is going to be able to miniaturize things that much why not mix the tricorder into a communicator? In Star Trek the Motion Picture, Kirk wears a wrist-mounted communicator, and that always seemed the best place for one to be always on ones person. Even today wearable computers mostly take the form of watches.

Another player in the very early inception of the Blazing Umbra server started to use combadges for new arrivals. The idea was that the Solas Tempus Communicator was too powerful (packs a lot of features into a small space) but, I think that could be worked around. Besides since each one contains a small HAL Computer System hub, and those hubs provide information to HAL via BlueNet, it makes sense you'd want them out there collecting data. Since the RP has taken off I've been wanting to change things for a while now, so now is the time. Cyclops (talk) 00:29, March 5, 2017‎ (EST)

Blazing Umbra Station / Schatten Star System

The original Blazing Umbra Station was originally a large space station of unknown class with no deck plans or designs other than an external image. It has been changed to be a Class K Space Station, which is retconned back to its discovery to avoid having to write a reason on why the space station was changed. Several modifications to the Class K designs had to be made as well, they are noted in the stations page.

Switching up the types of planets that are there in order to provide better role play opportunities. Schatten III will become Soteria and Schatten V will now be a volcanic planet of similar size. Both will mysteriously show signs that they were created with a Genesis device. This will allow for things to be done planet side with relative ease, and more RP opportunities.
