This department was created by the Intelligence Authorization Act passed by the Senate in July of 2381. The task of this department is to peruses the acquisition and use of assets and intelligence outside the boarders of the Concord. It's primary goal is to gather information relating to the Concord and it's activities abroad with an emphasis on identifying potential and active threats to the interests and operations of the Concord. This department is not permitted to surveil or investigate citizens of the Concord even if those citizens are not within Concord territory, which is the jurisdiction of the Civil Intelligence Division and the Department of Protection and Investigation. The FIB is not permitted to initiate military action but does work closely with the Department of Military Actions and Services which oversee's the orders and policies of Solas Tempus.
