Alyshan, called Aly by her friends, is a friendly and straightforward young woman. She is outgoing, fun-loving, and mischievous. She has spent a lot of her life abiding by her home society's rules and has started to shed those expectations. Sometimes completely eschewing manners and becoming a bit rude in the process. Aly is trying to find herself, she can be prone to feelings of inadequacy in new situations or when things get stressful. The stress makes her angry and sometimes she takes it out on those around her, lashing out. She can be moody but funny and extremely clever, often taking on a flirtatious and seductive attitude. She is quick to judge others, even though she tries very hard to keep an open mind.
One of her most endearing qualities, however, is the fact that she is very attuned to the feelings of others and while she doesn't really know who she is right now she knows the kind of person she'd like to be (if she can ever make it that far). She has a fantasy about being a champion for those who cannot defend themselves, though she struggles to make that a reality.

Special Abilities
Until recently he had no idea that he had any special abilities other than her intelligence or ability to learn. During her time with Vident Obscura it has been discovered that she has a high degree of aptitude for magic, scoring an 86% on testing. Of course given the vast amounts of lost information on the practice of such arts, even within Obscura, she is largely untrained and remains mostly sensitive to such forces but has not yet unlocked them in herself. She has a natural connection to the element of fire (see the Five Elements) earning her the callsign "Ember".
Background
Aly was always a very strong willed girl growing up. She even found that a lot of men wanted that in a woman. She trained in the arts mostly where she had the most aptitude, particularly in stone sculpting or even wood sculpting as she grew older. Her teachers always said she had an amazing mind for numbers and figures but that for some reason she had trouble applying her knowledge except in sparse amounts. She understood concepts but not how to fit them into anything practical.
Her training always went fairly well until she began to realize that she didn't want to have a mate chosen for her. The problem was made worse in that she also could not do what the other girls of a similar mind did and find a man she wanted then draw him to her. Friends would often tell her she should stop dreaming and "playing with rocks" and get down to the business of finding a husband. They even tried to help her on many occasions that she herself sabotaged in one way or another. Usually without knowing what had happened, she quickly became her own worst enemy. When a man would come calling, she could find some way to ruin it. One man had given her the joy of art on her body, she would even sculpt designs and scenes out of crystal or clay that he would then draw on her. She almost had him, she wanted him to choose her but then when he told her that he had one more woman to spend time with before choosing, he made the comment that she may have to sculpt him something very special... She ruined everything by refusing to see him again, much to the ire of her family and his. She hated the idea that she couldn't just tell the man she wanted to marry her and worse, he wouldn't unless she danced on his string. So she told herself...
After other ruined attempted, she made the horrible mistake of raking her fingers down the face of a young man, the son of the head of the ruling council. Perhaps one of the most powerful young men alive. She tried to tell his father that his son had been choking her while they were having sex, and that she told him to stop but he only squeezed until the room got fuzzy and dark. The son denied it and managed to wiggle his way out of trouble. This shamed her family and the young man charged her with assaulting him, claimed the scars would prevent him from ever finding a wife. She was shunned by her family almost entirely. Her mother was the only one left speaking to her, she arranged for her to be paired to an off worlder.
This man, James, treated her as a pet. He was kind enough most of the time, but finally she tried to force him to let her go. She wanted freedom, even as a wife on her world she would have been able to own property, go into business, amass wealth of her own. She thought she held all the cards against James, forced him to let her go, take her home. She found that her family had disowned her, having nowhere else to turn, no money, no influence, when she ran back to James, giving in to him, he then did the cruelest thing he could have done. He turned her down, in her distress he told her that he had only one thing she could do for him. In her desperation, she agreed to it without asking what it was. She found herself… Standing naked in front of a human with a chain around her neck and a leash connected to it. James handed the leash to the drunken human who cheered with his buddies, James said she was the cherry to sweeten the deal.
After getting involved with some traders, the Jennison brothers (Michael and Joseph Jennison), she flew with them for a good long while but was unhappy with such a limited existence and seeing so few people. They stopped at Nimbus Station for supplies and left her there to explore and enjoy herself. The trio was separated for months during a temporal emergency at Nimbus Station where the station was sent to 1520 to avoid an infinity wave. During this time period she met John Angelos and his family. While she is still very attracted to and has some deeply confusing feelings for the Jennison brothers, she has found a family on Nimbus Station in the form of the Angelos. She continues to stay in contact with the brothers but has not seen them in some time, still confused on what her life should be.
Beginning in January of 2383 she was fed up with sitting around doing nothing. She felt directionless though inspired by John Angelos and other members of the family and their service. She applied to becoming a contracted scout for Solas Tempus, though her contract is not exclusive. As of July of 2383, she has just completed several training courses and is now certified to fly and operate small ships. Her contract has given her command of the Dark Gemini, as Kestrel Class Starship, a Solas Tempus vessel assigned to her. During her training she met with several of her classmates, one of which caught her attention and she was indoctrinated in the Midnight Riders. Though she has not been a member long, she has a great deal of pride at being accepted.
Some of her ties with the Midnight Riders also lead her to an agent from Vident Obscura. At the time she was undergoing intensive training to become a TACCOM officer on Markab Prime at the Solas Tempus Academy there. She was made an offer, to do something truly exciting and truly extraordinary and see a world few ever got to see... Or she could continue to learn how to bust heads. She's driven by a need to get as far away from where she started as possible, she accepted the offer and began training for Vident Obscura. She was told that she couldn't do both but didn't listen. In January of 2386 she completed her TACCOM training at the Academy and later in March she completed her Obscura training.
Given her years of study in her homeworld she was able to advance at the Academy for Solas Tempus and become a commissioned officer. She petitioned the Academy to review her studied at home and in preparation to become a Civilian Contractor and even was able to get letters of recommendation that attested to her piloting skills from the Jennison brothers. She didn't even ask the Angelos, still feeling hurt and betrayed by them. An unknown sponsor recognized her achievements and helped get her petition approved. After completing TACCOM and Obscura training, she was granted a commission as a Lieutenant in Solas Tempus. Burning off much of her anger and feelings of abandonment, rage, and betrayal pouring all of it into near constant study and training in those 3 short years.
As of April of 2386 she is a Lieutenant of Solas Tempus's Tactical Command branch and an agent of Vident Obscura.
