The Minotaur was constructed at the Umbral Shipyards in the Schatten Star System, construction for this ship completed on December 26th, 2385. The vessel is officially assigned to TEMPCOM for research and development purposes. However, it's current mission and activities are classified to all but flag officers unless special dispensation is given directly from the head of that division. In actuality, the vessel is a dedicated Vident Obscura. As such while she has been refit according to the Refit Guidelines#Galaxy / Nebula Class for Galaxy and Nebula Class vessels as part of the action arm of Solas Tempus, she has a number of additional modifications.

Internal sensors as well as he external sensor and in particular her mission variable sensor / weapons pod have been upgraded with Videns Autem Magia crystals and the ships main computer is calibrated to provide sensor data on disturbances of the unexplained nature using her more advanced sensor systems. In command of Agent / Vice Admiral Torm Shol the ship is primarily tasked with doing research into unexplained artifacts which splice into the Schatten Star System. The vessel also serves as a test bed for other research projects attempting to further the knowledge of unexplained / supernatural forces.

Due to the investigative nature of the Minotaur, both her commander and the XO as well as numerous other personnel have personal vessels which they use to conduct investigations using the larger ship as a home base and research facility. As such it is not unusual for members of the command crew to be absent from the ship for periods of time.
