There are standard squad designations in Solas Tempus for various kinds of teams and groups.
Fighters
Fighter groups are usually between 5 and 7 vessels, designated by a greek letters or colors and potentially a number, depending on the task. For instance, the front-line squadron is Alpha, if there are more than one it would be Alpha 1, Alpha 2, etc.. Individual craft, other than the Runabout in the group, would be designated by the 2nd number with the squad commander being 1. Alpha 1-1, Alpha 1-2 or, if there is only one Alpha squadron, Alpha 1, Alpha 2.
Hierarchy
Most Alpha, Beta, and Gamma squadrons are the first, second, and third strings of response pilots and are most often patrols.
Composition
Each fighter group is composed of 1 electronic warfare runabout with high output / resolution sensor arrays, jammers, high power and long range transmitters, and equipped with utilitarian torpedo warheads (such as Electronic Disruption, Warp Field Disruption, etc..). This vessel is always called Hawk. Thus, the first Alpha Wing would be called Alpha 1 and the runabout assigned would be be called Alpha 1 Hawk or Alpha 2 Hawk.
Interceptor
Interceptor squadrons are used when an imminent threat is detected or to investigate anomalous readings during Condition 3 or Condition 1. These squads inhabit specially outfit Platform Stations near Solas Tempus facilities as well, to allow for a faster response time.
