There are standard squad designations in Solas Tempus for various kinds of teams and groups.
Fighters
Fighter groups are usually between 5 and 7 vessels, designated by a greek letters or colors. Then a number, which pertains to which particular wing of craft, and a 2nd designation is Hawk for the Runabout or a number for the fighter craft number.
Composition
Each fighter wing is composed of 1 electronic warfare runabout with high output / resolution sensor arrays, jammers, high power and long range transmitters, and equipped with utilitarian torpedo warheads (such as Electronic Disruption, Warp Field Disruption, etc..). This vessel is always called Hawk. Thus, the first Alpha Wing would be called Alpha 1 and the runabout assigned would be be called Alpha 1 Hawk or Alpha 2 Hawk.
Squadron Composition
A full squadron has a total of 3 flights, one of each type.
Interceptor
Interceptor wings are used when an imminent threat is detected or to investigate anomalous readings during Condition 3 or Condition 1. These squads inhabit specially outfit Platform Stations near Solas Tempus facilities as well, to allow for a faster response time. Interceptor wings are also trained to do point defense for larger facilities and space craft.
Composed of 5 craft:
Assault
Assault wings are specifically outfit and trained to perform forward assault, first strike or retaliatory strikes on enemy targets. They are slower overall but equipped to inflict more damage.
Composed of 7 craft:
- Equipped with Transphasic Torpedoes
- Equipped with Transphasic Torpedoes
- 2 Flyer Class Shuttles equipped for bombing
- Equipped with Transphasic / Tricobalt Torpedoes.
- Equipped with Transphasic Mines
Patrol
Patrol wings are used for both maintaining security and investigation of most anomalous readings during normal conditions.
Composed of 5 craft:
- 1 Danube Class Runabout
- 2 Peregrine Class Fighters
- 2 Valkyrie Class Fighters
