The Supergate is based on devices found with the original Stargates. It a modified Type IV Stargate, the only known one to exist is in the Schatten Star System. The gate opens up a wormhole that crosses between the dimensional barriers between realities. As such, it is capable of transporting a vessel from one reality to another. Unlike a traditional Stargate, the connection goes both ways and does not require a receiving Stargate on the other end, but rather opens up a wormhole.
Operation is triggered by using a Trans-Dimensional Beacon, which allows operators to locate a reality's coordinates and target the Supergate.
Limits
- Once the connection is established to the other reality, the wormhole can be maintained for no longer then 13.2 minutes before it must disengage.
- Once a wormhole has been opened, it takes the system a full 23 minutes to recharge before it can again be used.
- While a Trans-Dimensional Beacon can be used to open the wormhole since it can be traced back to its reality of origin, it can take 9 months for the system to locate the reality that an object or person originated in.
