The Sapphire Hornet completed construction from the Umbral Shipyards on July 15th, 2386. Her MSAI, Clovis Amond, was assigned at that time. Clovis completed the shakedown cruise on July 16th, 2386 where the ship experienced no issues. She was completed on the same day as her sister ship the STV Emerald Dragonfly.
The ships sensor systems were constructed with the VAM Enhanced Sensor Pallet and have been enhanced and calibrated for tactical maneuvers. They have been optimized for the detection and recognition of energy patterns, plasma trails, and other vessel signatures. Short range targeting sensors are particularly high resolution and have dedicated tactical processors allowing for faster target acquisition. Long range sensors offer higher resolution scans of plasma and are especially sensitive to subspace signatures. The ships impulse drive, inertial dampeners, and maneuvering thrusters are also enhanced allowing for faster maneuvering in combat situations. Communications systems are optimized for long range burst communications.
On November 3rd, 2386 the ship was assigned to Sarah M. Aruana.
