This class ship was primarily used by Star Fleet during the mid to late 23rd century but continued to be used by civilians throughout the 24th century as a tug and transport of cargo containers. The containers are standardized and used throughout Federation space for large bulk cargo transport. There were two designs, differing only in the sensors / main deflector configuration - the supplemental design documents show the layout of the more common design that added the larger deflector dish and main deflector.
Civilian Refit
In the civilian space these ships are easily modified with a varied configuration. The most common configuration guts the primary hull taking out a large portion of the crew quarters to expand the cargo space inside the ship. In additional the tractor beam system is expanded along with reactor power output and the transporter system is also vastly expanded.

Speeds
Speed is cut by 33% for each additional cargo container. Warp speeds with the largest bulk container are limited as if the ship is carrying three cargo containers. In addition, this cargo container has space doors at either end and its own compliment of Sphinx Workpods and Workbees to facilitate loading and unloading of ships, the ships must be completely without power while in transit.
Speed /wo Container
- Cruising Speed
- Warp 5 (Warp 6 after modifications)
- Maximum Speed
- Warp 6 (Warp 7.24 after modification)
- Emergency Speed
- Warp 8 for 4 hours (Warp 8.45 after modification)
Speed /w Container
- Cruising Speed
- Warp 3 (Warp 4 after modification)
- Maximum Speed
- Warp 4.5 (Warp 5.61 after modification)
- Emergency Speed
- Warp 5.1 for 2 hours (Warp 6.11 after modification)
Offensive Systems
- 2 forward Torpedo Launchers
- 6 Phaser banks /w 2 Emitters Each
Defensive Systems
- Deflector Shields
