Markab (also known as Alpha Pegasi) was an A-type Subgiant located roughly 133 lightyears from Earth in the Epsilon Tatva Sector. On September 20th, 2390, the entire star system was destroyed when the Markab star was artificially collapsed.

Prior to its destruction, the star had exhausted its hydrogen fuel and expanded around 5 times the radius of the Sun. Eventually, the star would have evolved into a Red Giant over the next several thousand years had it not been destroyed. The star gave off a more intense color spectrum than Sol and had a much higher gravity due to its core being more dense, with fusion fueled by heavier elements.

The star system itself contained two planetary bodies, though it was possible that more existed in the distant past before Markab originally expanded. The planets were separated by a dense asteroid belt, believed to have once been another planet. It was theorized that the system once contained 4 planets: a smaller body close to the star's surface that had been burned away by the expansion of the star, and another that was destroyed by gravitational shifts and tidal forces.

The seat of power for the Serenity Concord was the planet Trocara (Tr-OH-Kar-aH) also known as Markab Prime, an M-Class world that possessed a thriving ecosystem of flora and fauna. This planet was about the same size as Earth with a similar nickel/iron core and rotated on an extreme axis, giving it extreme seasons. The planet had a long year and thus longer seasons, which was particularly useful in the growing seasons that were proportionally extended. A wide variety of plant and animal life held similar characteristics to Earth. The atmosphere was thicker than most M-Class worlds and the planet itself had a more powerful magnetic field. The surface was first colonized as a scientific outpost for the United Federation of Planets in the mid-22nd century.

Solas Tempus and the Serenity Concord both maintained dedicated ground facilities on the surface. While Solas Tempus's headquarters were in orbit at Starbase Tranquility, the seat of government for the Serenity Concord was on the planet's surface in the capital city of Stonsall, where the Trocara Facility for Solas Tempus was also located. Within the military facility was the Lost to Time Memorial as well as dedicated transport facilities. Within the government campus was the planet's Hermod Gate and dedicated governmental and civilian transport facilities.

Founding History

This planet was similar in size to Earth, with slightly less gravity. The world sat on the very edge of the habitable zone and was thus an arctic world with high winds, ice storms, and permanent glaciers. Surface temperatures seldom rose above -13 degrees Celsius. The planet's axis was shifted by less than a degree, giving it rather consistent seasons with little shift in weather.

The planet was difficult to inhabit, although a colony of Andorians was present on the planet and on good terms with the inhabitants of Markab Prime. They traded plentiful water, deuterium, and tritium with Markab Prime in exchange for difficult-to-grow fruits and vegetables along with some raw ore materials that were also in scarce supply on the world.

The Serenity Concord had an Andorian settlement on this planet, rich in deuterium by way of heavy water. The Ronin Shipyards facility in orbit used these resources to refuel and maintain vessels. Andoria contracted with the Concord for assistance in managing some of its local trade fleets, and they held mining rights to the planet in cooperation with the Concord until the system's destruction.

Asteroid Belt (Destroyed)

Orbiting at a mean distance of 5.62 AU from Markab, this extremely dense Asteroid Belt was rich in complex minerals ranging from Iron, Copper, Zinc, and Magnesium to more precious metals such as Titanium, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Some of the asteroids were large enough to hold very thin atmospheres. Rogue asteroids were rare and the system's Oort Cloud was very sparse; in theory, when the gravity of the star originally increased, most of the Oort cloud was drawn inward, which helped explain why a planet might have broken up to form the asteroid belt. The Serenity Concord managed rights to the asteroid belt's rich resources, while the United Federation of Planets and the Romulan Star Empire both had limited mining rights within the field. The field itself was patrolled by Solas Tempus to maintain the peace prior to its vaporization in 2390.
