While she wanted a combat role, she was given desk duty in the special projects division.  She was a glorified secretary, dissatisfied with this lot in life she saw an early opportunity to impress a black ops agent who was working with their team. She knew she had to control it, clamp it down, lock it away or it would control her and that was something she would not have.  The demon gave her unique powers and abilities, however, mostly to do with the mind.  She went through extensive training after being moved to the south-eastern United States, where they gave her a ring.  It was clear at first, but once she put it on the large gemstone in it turned into a bright orange-red fire opal.  It wasn't long into her training that she realized, she wasn't aging.  Not only that but she looked considerably younger than she should, small wrinkles around the eyes and mouth that had been developing, were no longer there.  She perpetually appears to be in her mid 20's.
