The station operates an a Trans-Dimensional Observatory as well as research station. The express purpose is to plot wormhole geometry to allow passage to other realities using the Schatten Supergate. The station also has the primary receiver for the Trans-Dimensional Beacon which signals the gate to open. The station itself orbits beyond the 5th planet in the Schatten Star System at 57.8 AU from Schatten orbiting synchronously with the supergate itself.

Mission

Janus Station operates several research projects, the most prominent one is the Janus Project which is tasked with locating and cataloguing alternate realities. As a sub-project they also attempt to find alternate realities from which spliced individuals have come from, in order to offer them the opportunity to return home. Other missions include research into furthering wormhole technology and monitoring for Trans-Dimensional beacons and offering assistance where required.

Access

The station itself is a military facility and access is restricted to authorized personnel only. The nature of the research is sensitive as is the discovery of alternate realities, not all of which would like to be suddenly dropped in on by an extra-dimensional force. Diplomatic relations are also managed from the station for the Serenity Concord.
