Keval, like most Andorians, is very emotionally volatile. He can have wide mood swings quickly but has learned to control them overall, especially in a professional setting. He tends toward allowing his moods to flow more naturally, though, when dealing with people on in a casual setting, especially in a personal one-on-one setting. To humans he can often come off as difficult to predict, even unstable on occasion, far less predictable and rational times than the more familiar Vulcans who tend to shy away from him more. While he holds no animosity or prejudice against Vulcans from the long tensions between Andor and Vulcan he still prefers to keep to himself, their innate logic rubs him the wrong way personally, though he is unable to contest the value of such input professionally. Most other races he gets along very well with, enjoying the company of quite a few Romulans enjoying the freedom with which they express themselves, the same goes for Bajorans, though he does not care much for duplicity in anyone.
With his skill, guile, and impeccable instincts he rose the ranks of Starfleet very quickly. As a Vice Admiral he was given his choice of any ship in the fleet and chose the USS Asteria (NCC-27995), a Vesta Class Starship.
Personal History
After leaving home he spend just under a year on a freelance cargo ship running goods from Earth to Andoria and Bajor. Of course there was smuggling but he was never involved with anything serious. Though, he is able to deal with the Ferrengi a bit more than most due to dealing in interplanetary commerce and being often involved with ships that were less than scrupulous. The Captain had earned his trust in a very short time, perhaps the only person who had his trust when he joined Starfleet. On joining, he was questioned briefly about his experienced with his Captain and his lack of suitable answers almost blocked him from entering the Academy.
Family History
Keval's first father was an imperial guard and quite a bit of strive was created when he announced that he was going into Starfleet rather than the guard. His mothers (both of them) were scientists and temporarily supportive at first but as it became clear that he was serious, the stress in the house peaked and neither pair of parents really continued speaking to young Keval. Finally this forced him away from his home world, not yet eligible for Starfleet he signed onto a cargo ship running between Andoria and Bajor and served there until he could be admitted to Starfleet Academy.
Academic Records
His science specialty is in high energy plasma physics, he is also a very skilled pilot of both small and large craft. He was often criticized by his instructors for relying too much on instinct and his gut to guide him when in command situations and it was difficult for him to learn when to go with instinct and when to push it aside for a more factual approach. Even after graduation he preferred to work mostly alone or in only a small group for many years before learning to let others in and trust his crew more.
