The Vesta Class vessel is an advanced Multi-Mission Strategic Explorer in use by the United Federation of Planets, entering service in 2380. The ship has the most advanced shielding system to date in use by any Federation vessel and is one of the first in what Starfleet plans to be a line of multi-mission carriers. She is equipped to handle launching a variety of smaller vessels up to the Runabout vessels in size (such as a Danube Class Runabout, Flyer Class Shuttle, or Venture Class Runabout). She can launch 2 vessels at a time and support up to 4 vessel out simultaneously, configuring for rapid deployment as needed.
