She is a Solas Tempus vessel assigned to Kazuli by Admiral Sal D'Amico to allow him to investigate a comet (designated Comet J27-39L-550) that had entered the system. The assignment sheet describes that D'Amico has assigned to ship to Kazuli for long term use and that he may access the ship when needed, pending clearance from Operations to launch.
Specialized Equipment
The primary and secondary sensor arrays have been refit and modified for researching subspace anomalies and the ships deflector grid has been upgraded to divert power directly from the ships warp core, increasing shield output. The warp nacelles have also been modified and reconfigured to allow the vessel to form stable warp fields expanding 4 to 5 times as far away from the vessel as standard.
Service History
Originally a transport vessel for Starbase 213 in Beta Quadrant running personnel and equipment on a regular trade route with Cygnus II. In 2369 the vessel was damaged in an ion storm and towed back for salvage or repair. The vessel was then purchased by Solas Tempus in trade for specialized refit of the Starbase's primary power systems. The vessel was heavily damaged and gutted by Solas Tempus. In 2371 the Irkalla was re-registered as a research vessel for Solas Tempus and deployed to Blazing Umbra Station along with a number of others.
