The Ghost Quartz was commissioned for use by Vident Obscura as a personal vessel for Captain Drem Confoscho under the orders of Fleet Admiral Lance Thomas. It was assigned to her officially in October of 2385 but was undergoing last minute refits after small micro-meteor impacts during its last testing cruise. The delay was minimal but delayed the vessels deployment until after the death of Lance Thomas, and was never officially presented to Captain Confoscho even though her command codes are assigned to the vessel, she is not officially listed as her Captain, just listed as assigned.
She was designed to operate for extended periods of time in unfriendly or even hostile situations acting covertly. The vessel is equipped with a number of features for doing field research, including a HAL 9000 Hub similar to the one on the Sleipnir. She also has quantum resolution scanners equipped with a Videns Autem Magia array, first of it's kind. The prototype is designed to detect and analyze the magical and psionic fields out artifacts. She also has an artifact containment field generator in both of the ships holds for transporting dangerous artifacts.
