A P.E.T. (pronounced P.E.T. or pet depending on the culture) is a an Advanced P.D.A or Smart Phone like device used in every day life in the Megaman Battle Newtowrk Universe. The device it self includes many feature such as a cell phone, web browser, email, and other PDA functions. These devices can even host a single Internet Naviator (NetNavi).
Limitations
While the PET do have communication ability they don't have fast enough wireless to beam PET. One exception is the use of the infrared lasers... how ever this does still require the user stay right next to the source of the connection regardless and if the connection is lost the Navi stream to the internet is halted and they appear back on the PET immediately.
Size
Most of these devices are designed to be handheld and between as small as 5" but as large as 12" depending on the model and purpose. The most common is a smaller 6" model designed to be easily fit in the hand and carried.
History
In a the 200X, Tadashi Hikari invest his time into innovating computer and internet technologies and invents the PET and the NetNavi AIs. Thou the cannon of these universe don't dive into the events that closely as the character in the universe just take these devices for granted and don't explore history much. One can conquer that this is the cyberspace parallel too Dr.Light's research into sentient robots in the "Classic" Megaman universe.
