Background
Stevin was born to the Narof family in the small village of Nalkariko, located within the Western Regions of the Kingdom of Hyrule. As a child, he spent much of his time learning to take over the farm, and since general education wasn’t a thing, never learned to read or write. At the age of 13 he began to slowly take over more of his aging father’s responsibilities, and by 15 he practically ran the family farm on his own. Unfortunately, the Goddesses would not allow things to remain this way.
Shortly after turning 18, the province of Ordon, the barrier between the Kingdom of Hyrule and the Blin Confederation, was destroyed. Burnt to the ground by the warmongering pig-like creatures of the Blin. Nalkariko, being the next closest village aside for the Hylian Marina, was besieged next. It scarcely held out for two days before the palisade walls of the main town were breached and Stevin was separated from his parents in the ensuing chaos. He nearly lost his head to a Moblin with a stolen sword had it not been for a friend of his who had worked with the local garrison.
The survivors of the Nalkariko and Marina sieges flooded into towns like Makariko and Hyrule Castle Town itself. Stevin, who had not seen his parents since the walls fell, assumed they were dead and signed on for the Hylian Army, where it turned out he had a knack for swordfighting. He was 19 by the time he and his friend Adaon, who had saved his life back at Nalkariko, marched off with the 8th Volunteer Swordsmen to combat the advancing swarm of Blins. They set up to stop them at Makariko, but rather than attack them, the Blins just passed by.
