Bailey is easy to get along with, for the most part. He is trusting and compassionate, though he can be a bit pompous even if he's not trying to be. He's a romantic at heart and enjoys doing the little things for people he cares about. He's incredibly intuitive and quick thinking, flexible in his outlook on the world and in how he reacts to it. He makes decisions on instinct and this is what allows him to be so flexible and so quick to act. He doesn't waste time doubting himself. As a friend he is impartial and tries to see all sides of any given situation. Professionally he is not a rebel and works well within the systems which govern him, though he can be a bit bad mannered and rude, especially if his ego is a bit threatened.

Background
His father was a blue color worker in a factory making consumer goods in the Rigel system and his mother was a primary school teacher. Things were not always easy there, especially when he was a young man. While not usually bullied himself, he tended to get involved in the strife of others and try to problem-solve a way out for them even from a young age. His father often would bring him to work during the summers and there he showed a major aptitude for engineering and problem solving, especially in dealing with unusual situations. He was classified as gifted with mathematics and logic. His mother fostered math and science in him from and early age, to this day he credits his engineer career to her tutoring him as early as 4 years old.
As he got older, he wanted out of the Rigel colonies but stayed to help his father with the factory until his father finally retired. He went to a local university in the Rigel system and graduated at the top of his class with a degree in mechanical engineering. In school he gained a reputation for being able to fix unfixable problems in unique ways. He gained the nickname "Sprocket" and later "Doctor Sprocket" which was eventually shortened to "Doc Sprocket". Sometimes people just called him "Doc" but most of the time "Sprocket".
He went on to get a job as a civilian engineer with Starfleet but never wanted to become an officer, although it was often suggested that he should. After the Dominion War he was dissatisfied with Starfleet, especially after witnessing the events on Earth. Something about seeing the streets filled with armed security officers who stopped and took blood samples of everyone made him queasy. He left after the war and later joined Solas Tempus in their engineering program, earning a Doctorate in Aeronautical Engineering from the Solas Tempus Academy. When offered a position he joined and worked his way through to become a Chief of Engineering in the Functional Command division of Green Team. He was assigned to the STV Diamond Knight as their Chief of Engineering.
