The Blood Shard was created by the Arch of Athanasia, fusing together its own nature to draw power from the Vafilosna with the nature of the vampire James Henry McDaniel. The ring contains a shard of the Dark Aether itself, a fragment of the eternal darkness of that plane. It allows crossing into the Dark Aether beyond the seal and back again. It can also draw upon that darkness and give the darkness shape using blood.

- Corruption takes on many forms and can be inconsistent from turning a mortal evil to depriving them of the will to live
Usage
The ring provides a bridge into the Dark Aether, but that is not enough. The unchanging nature of that plane is not enough, it must be given form. The form is given through blood which feeds the ring's abilities. Mixing blood and darkness creates a power as if the eternal shadow of death was given form. The user must force a magical pattern upon the darkness as they infuse it with blood and then release it directly after.
History
The Blood Shard was formed when the Arch of Athanasia was used to attempt to create a suitable wedding band for James by his new wife, Kit Regar. The nature of the Arch created an amalgamation of it's own energy into a ring which draw from the nature of James and the darkness present in Kit from James.
