Zayba Salnalyi is a former Nabu-Zariin soldier who was enslaved by a bureaucratic mix-up. She was the only survivor of the Mufrid disaster, and presumed dead along with all others aboard. She was discovered by Edward Cardon, and returned to Nabu-Zariin, only to discover that she had officially been declared dead and was now therefore "no longer human"... and thus, a slave.
