The Class 2 Space Station was used as a modular space station for research, command, mining, and commerce operations throughout the Alpha Quadrant. Designed and built by Starfleet for both civilian and military purposes the base is still in use in the 24th century.

Configurations
Multiple base configurations are possible because of the modular design, in addition the module layout has two primary designs the Zenith and Nadir configurations. The Nadir configuration is more suited for command and control purposes with a wider layout for offices. The Zenith configuration is suited more for research operations and is smaller than the Nadir configuration.
