A-Ko has an almost split personality. There is no clear reason why this is true, other than the fact that A-Ko does not recall when or where she was created. The hole in her memory doesn't bother her very much though. A-Ko believes that she was originally an he and that the ferengi which sold her to Sirah changed a few things, badly. The dominant personality is that of a young girl, excitable, bubbly, and very flirtatious with just about everyone. In this personality she thrives on attention and enjoys being the absolute center of it. She's extremely outgoing and takes risks easily, sometimes too easily. She has a trusting demeanor and tends to believe everyone she comes across.
The other personality, which is actually what A-Ko prefers, is male. That of a teenaged young man who is utterly infatuated with his friend and ship-make Sirah Abrim, often getting jealous of anyone who gets too much of the man's attention. In this personality he is more guarded, while still friendly and can be a bit of a flirt, is more reserved. He truly enjoys the company of others but prefers to listen, though gets bored very easily at times. He can be needy and difficult to cope with for long periods of time.
Both personalities are prone to being a bit explosive when upset, but being upset seldom lasts more than a few minutes at most. One might easily say that she/he is a bit of a drama queen in any form. A-Ko is not bothered by having two personalities, they tend to think of it all as a unified self and enjoys the versatility of changing things up, though does occasionally get upset when their program resets to the default, which is the feminine personality. No matter who they are, flattery definitely works and they love to be told how wonderful they are.

History
Sirah obtained A-Ko from a Ferengi during a trade deal at a significant discount. His favorite comment regarding this is "Never buy a discount AI from a Ferengi who is passing through the quadrant." As far as is known, there was no person who was the basis for A-Ko's personality, but if there was, they would likely be under psychological management. Not much history beyond that is known, even to A-Ko. There is a substantial probability that the Ferengi which sold the program to Sirah in the first place obtained it under less than reputable means. A-Ko has no memory before being brought online under the care of Sirah and was originally programmed to be his complete servant and property.
Over A-Ko's time with Sirah she realized that he didn't really want a total servant and property. Together they worked with a few programmers to adjust some of the parameters of her matrix. She was never quite as much of a servant as her previous owner claimed though, which worked well for the pair. Together they have been running cargo, contraband, and engaging in other minor smuggling runs ever since.
