Zayba Salnalyi is a former Nabu–Zariin soldier who was enslaved by a bureaucratic mix-up. She was the only survivor of the Mufrid disaster, and presumed dead along with all others aboard. She was discovered by Edward Cardon, and returned to Nabu–Zariin, only to discover that she had officially been declared dead and was now therefore "no longer human"... and thus, a slave.
