Temporal Regulations

The regulations here define the operational rules for a mission involving time travel.

Command of Vessels Equipped for Time Travel

Regulation 3

Any vessel that has time travel capabilities is required to have either the Executive Officer or Commanding Officer be an active Temporal Operative.

No Temporal Operative Available

Regulation 3.1

In the event that no Temporal Operative is available on board a vessel, the highest ranking officer should attempt to contact the nearest Temporal Operative to assume command of the mission or receive instructions on how to proceed.

Regulation 3.1.1

In the event that no Temporal Operative is available during a mission set in the past the vessel should abort and return to the present.

Regulation 3.1.2

If return is not possible and no Temporal Operative is available on board ship or through contact with a Solas Tempus vessel or facility, the highest ranking officer is authorized to take command of the mission.

Temporal Operative Authority

Regulation 6

During a temporal mission the highest ranking Temporal Operative supersedes the command of non-operative personnel. As such a Temporal Operative whom is a Captain may override the orders of an Admiral during a temporal mission.

Overriding a Temporal Operative

Regulation 6.1

A Temporal Operative does not have authority over ship or station operations that do not impact or involve time travel.

Regulation 6.2

Senior ranks (Lt. Commander and above) and specifically starship Captains who are not Temporal Operatives may override a Temporal Operative who is of a Junior rank (Below that of a Lt. Commander) in situations of extreme risk to the ship and crew.

Regulation 6.2.1

In the event of a senior officer (non-Operative) overriding the order of a junior officer (Operative) they then take full responsibility of the outcome of the mission and are required to explain their actions.

Removing a Temporal Operative from Command

Regulation 6.3

The event that a Temporal Operative is declared unfit for command according to General Order 22 the next available Temporal Operative should assume immediate command of the mission.

Regulation 6.3.1

A Temporal Operative removed from command of a mission should be returned to Starbase Pandora or the nearest available Solas Tempus facility if possible. If this is not possible, the current mission commander has the authority to place them under temporary arrest pending return to the present.

Regulation 6.3.2

Once a Temporal Operative is removed from command they are prohibited from engaging in further temporal operations or related activities until they are returned to duty after an investigation. In the event of an exceptional threat a mission commander can override this rule with proper cause.
