The Refit Miranda Class is a direct descendant from the Miranda Class Starship during a time when the Federation preferred to retain and refit workhorse vessels rather than design new ones. As such the Miranda Class refit is still in use in across Federation space from it's original refit in the mid 23rd century into the modern 24th century.

-The Miranda Class starship was in use in 23rd and 24th century.  This class ship is directly related to the previous Soyuz Class, which while physically similar in design had a weaker space frame and lower power capabilities than the Miranda Class.  Because of foresight in upgrade potential, the ships space frame and systems arraignment was able to be readily upgraded up through the late 24th century.
