The trans-dimensional beacon is a specialized device that uses a complex series of subspace wave-guides to create a pulsing signal that radiates through dimensional layers. The signal is specially crafted so that the signal energy is drawn to the prime reality, where the Supergate exists in the Schatten Star System. Specialized equipment at Janus Station is in place to detect such signals and allow the Supergate to be activated to the signals point of origin in the multiverse.
