Saffron Consortium

The Saffron Consortium is a confederation of transport haulers transporting everything from bulk goods to personnel transport facilities and smaller cargo runners between systems. If it gets shipped in the Alpha and Beta quadrants in the civilian space, it is usually transported by Saffron Consortium.

The have a massive fleet of ships and cargo containers with distribution facilities well placed throughout both quadrants with a few at the very edge of known space. They serve as transport and refueling depots for nearly every race. Processing in both currency and trade they are well known for the ability to complete contracts successfully. The Federation has often suspected them for transporting of smuggled goods and has attempted to ban their passage through Federation space in the past. Such acts never get ratified by the council as a good number of smaller powers (and even a few larger powers) rely on contracts with Saffron for the bulk of their economic transport between worlds.
