Variants
Between the 23rd and 24th centuries the ship plan was adjusted several times. Replacing the communication buoy storage with an arboretum to comply with 24th century crew support regulations for long term missions. There was also a minor redesign relating to the bridge layout, the two main entry points to the bridge are moved along the exterior of the bridge.

There are a lot of inconsistencies where this class vessel is concerned. An excellent write-up about them is posted at Ex Astris Scientia. The author does a very good job of detailing the size inconsistencies and how they were resolved for his site. I use this as a guideline for my own write-up on the design here.
