The cruiser is designed to fill both offensive and defensive roles in combat. It is a large vessel capable of storing large numbers of personnel and equipment designed for infantry or other deployment operations, able to be operating within an atmosphere with increased mobility due to the ventral fins-like structures under the bow. The vessel is designed to operate in small 3-ship groups or alone designed to fill a number of roles and be less specialized than other warships.

Solas Tempus Refit

Refits offered by Solas Tempus to bring the vessel in line with current technology in use.

Power Source

Since Solas Tempus / Federation technology has a superior understanding of energy production, it is possible to install a Matter / Antimatter reactor or refit an upgrade the fusion reactor system, similar to what is used on the Galaxy Class Starship where a larger number of smaller fusion reactors are operated in series so that one reactor assembly can be swapped out mechanically to provide higher power output over longer times. This design also allows for damaged reactor assemblies to be pulled out and auxiliary units put in place during combat. This is, however, an optional refit.

Defensive Systems

If a Matter / Antimatter reactor is added the vessel would possess the ability to be outfit with a Phasing Cloak with special permission from Solas Tempus Command.

Offensive Systems

While most of the armaments of the vessel are comparable with those in use by Solas Tempus, the Plasma Torpedoes as well as the Pulse Lasers are notably weaker. As such, Solas Tempus can refit this class vessel with some minor upgrades.

  • Photon Torpedo Silos (16)
Since photon torpedoes are designed to operate differently (and are smaller), the vessel can fit about 1.5 as many torpedoes on the ship as missiles. The launch silos have magnetic accelerators added similar to a standard torpedo tube. In addition, hot-swapping of warheads is also possible given the size reduction of missiles to torpedoes.
  • Phaser Pulse-Beam Turrets (50)
As an alternative these can also be changed out for disruptors or some other form of phased-plasma beam.

As an additional option, the Plasma Lances can be swapped out for Positron Beam Cannons, this too is an optional refit.

There is an increased energy draw from the phaser beam turrets than with standard lasers, as such the beam turrets are used mostly in pulse mode but can be switched to full beam mode if needed, at an increased power draw.
