Settled in one of the most lush and temperate valley's available.  The primary site sits in a valley created by water flow that still flows through the valley flow on its way to the coastThe coast is about an hour or so to the east from the base's location. The valley sits on the edge of grasslands transitioning to a dense forest around 30 minutes to the west.  The grasslands to the east run quickly off into wetlands and then the coast.

The facility uses a biophilic design philosophy to minimally impact the native environment and preserve as much as possible.  The facility rests in a clearing near the valley floor and uses geothermal and solar energy for its primary power source.  An underground fusion reactor provides auxiliary and backup power.  Buildings are blends of open well-lit areas with running gardens and even trees growing through the structures, part of the design.  Smaller creeks and streams run throughout the facility as well blending inside and out.

The base has an underground hanger and maintenance facility constructed by using existing underground cave systems modified and reinforced to accommodate the 6 level facility for landing and maintaining a variety of space and land craft.  The launch bay doors open about a quarter of a mile south along the valley floor where the river naturally moves far enough from the central line of the valley to allow for the landing pad and bay doors.
The primary air field for Nysa houses approximately 150 small craft ranging in size from the Type 6 to Type 9 Shuttle Craft.  The airfield also has 50 Peregrine Class Fighters as well as 5 Danube Class Runabouts and 3 Venture Class Runabouts.

The airfield also has areas for frigate sized starships capable of landing to touch down, supported by gravity field generators with umbilical connections to provide power and life support if needed.
Directly above the hanger and the launch doors is the air field.  This has a simple set of twin runways, control tower, and an associated staging area for air and space craft.  The airfield has a number of lifts that can pull vessels into the underground facility for storage and maintenance.

Just north of the facility are crew accommodations designed in the same way as the base itself.  Each of the 4 complexes has 10 individual single family dwellings designed to take advantage of the local water table and habitat.  Accommodations come with a standard arrangement of bedroom, kitchen, living area, and office in a single floor building and a central transporter facility in the center of the complex.

Solas Tempus has established a large military facility on Soteria (Schatten III), which provides a based of operations for research and development on the surface as well as a home for the Stargate. The facility is constructed largely within a valley, but has a vast (and growing) underground footprint.

Airfield

The primary air field for Nysa houses approximately 150 small craft ranging in size from the Type 6 to Type 9 Shuttle Craft. The airfield also has 50 Peregrine Class Fighters as well as 5 Danube Class Runabouts and 3 Venture Class Runabouts.

The airfield also has areas for frigate sized starships capable of landing to touch down, supported by gravity field generators with umbilical connections to provide power and life support if needed.

Planetary Defense Systems

 • 5 Type 2 Torpedo Launchers
 • 3 Deflector Shield Generators

Communications

An advanced Subspace Echo Array is installed underground at the facility as well as a major subspace antennae array located not far from the facility.

Life at Nysa

Since Soteria has a vastly longer rotational period than Earth, adjustments had to be made to accommodate the normal circadian rhythms of the occupants. As such a Soterian Day is divided into 4 "days". The first 3 day-periods are 22 hours each with the final one being 23 hours. This equals out to 89 hours for 1 Soterian Day. Each day is divided into 2 shifts of 7 hours and 1 shift of 8 hours, similar to the standard Earth-norms.

Clocks / Keeping Time

Since each day-period (commonly just called days, with the Soterian Day referenced as a planetary day) is 22.25 hours long (hence 3 at 22 hours and 1 at 23 hours) clocks keep time on a 23 hour clock. Though most of the time mechanical clocks are not used, they do exist that jump 1 hour from 22 hours to 0100 hours 3 times in a row before going the full 23 hour time span. The more common digital clocks measure simply what time it is in a modified Earth-time format (0000 = 2200 hours / 0000 = 2300 hours). This can be confusing to get used to, however the extra hour is inserted usually while most people are asleep for the final night-cycle of the Soterian Day.

Day and Night

Through modern technology standard regulations have a day/night cycle simulated within the facility's crew quarters and common areas working on the basis of morning, day, and night shifts which lights programmed to brighten over the course of this simulated day cycle based on which part of the Soterian Day it currently is.

Shifts

Since there are 3 day-lengths the primary length of 22 hours are considered prime days while the off-day of 23 hours is considered stretch days.
