Amelia is generous and honest with her crew and ship with a sharp (yet crude) wit, even so she is reserved and keeps to herself rarely appearing in physical form.  She tends toward selflessness and perfectionism in her work managing the ships systems, working well with the crew and other staff.  When not focused on a task, her mind tends to wander, prone to fantasies and daydreams which she occasionally appears and performs or acts out with the crew she is closest to.  Since her mind tends to wander, she prefers things to be fast paced, even for an AI.  For her operations she is bound by the rules and orders of her commanding officer, in this case [[James Graves]] and [[Argent Valeen]] and must follow their directives.  She see's little point in manners, tending toward the vulgar rather than proper.

For her operations she is bound by the rules and orders of her commanding officer, in this case James Graves and Argent Valeen and must follow their directives. She see's little point in manners, tending toward the vulgar rather than proper.

Amelia prefers to keep with the pale slightly lavender skin tone and her insect-like wings, which are large and roughly butterfly shaped even though they have the apparent texture of something similar to a dragonfly. They are transparent and lines can be seen through them where the wings segment themselves much like a dragonfly, bee, or other flying insect. She primarily appears in an iridescent green bodysuit with a texture of scales that give the surface a slightly mermaid look. Fascinated by folklore and legends of goddesses of all types. When this is too revealing for her shipmates she will often change it to a floor length dark grey iridescent gown. She rarely appears in any other way unless requested to do so, not quite sharing the use of clothes as a way of self identification and expression that organic life does.

Background

Compiled for the specific purpose of operating a starship in the event that a crew was incapacitated or deemed otherwise unfit, Amelia was created in a laboratory. She was trained exclusively for that purpose in the first few years of her existence. During this time she was largely isolated from the outside world, having contact with only her creators and the facility staff.

Originally, Amelia was not supposed to have a holographic template. One of the interns in the lab took a liking to her as her program developed a female personality. It is believed that she developed the idea of her own gender based on the fact that the facility staff was not overly varied in gender but her programming team was largely male and she absorbed their desire for female companionship, though she was not explicitly exposed to the idea, Amelia would often tune into the facilities communication systems and spend time listening to the staff to learn more about how people communicate. Since her program was designed to be adaptable and with a desire to please others (as a precursor to adding directives to obey orders), the genderless identity took on female traits learning from not only the expectations of the male staff members but research in what she was permitted to access in the library computer.

Her program was designed to be genderless and utilitarian, but the designers underestimated the drive for a sentient intelligence to expand its program and self. Amelia developed a strong female self-concept and the intern whom was working with her over night, encouraged her to take a form based on some of his own artwork, which he said she had inspired. Thus she constructed a holographic template, when a sexual relationship began between the two the pair were discovered and the intern was reassigned. New protocols were put in place at the facility to control exposure to such dangerous ideas. Though the designers attempted to purge her program of these new concepts of gender, sexuality, and personal identity they were unable to do so without damaging her program.

Even after the new protocols were established, Amelia became very adept at engaging in holographic fantasies with staff members which she felt she could trust. Her skills with computer programming increased sufficiently to hide evidence of such in any system logs, however, this habit of engaging in fantasy continues to this day with those select people she trusts.

In 2379 Admiral Graves, who had been overseeing the project, had her program installed aboard the refit USS Endeavor as the new program computer system aboard the ship. When Amelia was installed as the ships primary computer operating system, her program was keyed to the ships command codes.
