The entire Nysa Facility was destroyed to stop a Borg incursion on September 8th, 2381 by setting the fusion reactors to self destruct. A memorial to the lives lost is set within the crater. |
Solas Tempus has established a large military facility on Soteria (Schatten III), which provides a based of operations for research and development on the surface as well as a home for the Stargate. The facility is constructed largely within a valley, but has a vast (and growing) underground footprint.
Facilities
- Airfield
- Fabrication / Repair Facilities
- Military Barracks
- Civilian Housing
- Planetary Defense Systems
- Subspace Communications Suite
Airfield
The primary air field for Nysa houses approximately 150 small craft ranging in size from the Type 6 to Type 9 Shuttle Craft. The airfield also has 50 Peregrine Class Fighters as well as 5 Danube Class Runabouts and 3 Venture Class Runabouts.
The airfield also has areas for frigate sized starships capable of landing to touch down, supported by gravity field generators with umbilical connections to provide power and life support if needed.
Housing
- Military Barracks
- 5,000 total (1,200 Officers / 3,800 Enlisted)
- Civilian
- 2,000
Planetary Defense Systems
- 40 Type XIII Phaser Cannons
- 5 Type 2 Torpedo Launchers
- 3 Deflector Shield Generators
Communications
An advanced Subspace Echo Array is installed underground at the facility as well as a major subspace antennae array located not far from the facility.
Life at Nysa
Since Soteria has a vastly longer rotational period than Earth, adjustments had to be made to accommodate the normal circadian rhythms of the occupants. As such a Soterian Day is divided into 4 "days". The first 3 day-periods are 22 hours each with the final one being 23 hours. This equals out to 89 hours for 1 Soterian Day. Each day is divided into 2 shifts of 7 hours and 1 shift of 8 hours, similar to the standard Earth-norms.
Clocks / Keeping Time
Since each day-period (commonly just called days, with the Soterian Day referenced as a planetary day) is 22.25 hours long (hence 3 at 22 hours and 1 at 23 hours) clocks keep time on a 23 hour clock. Though most of the time mechanical clocks are not used, they do exist that jump 1 hour from 22 hours to 0100 hours 3 times in a row before going the full 23 hour time span. The more common digital clocks measure simply what time it is in a modified Earth-time format (0000 = 2200 hours / 0000 = 2300 hours). This can be confusing to get used to, however the extra hour is inserted usually while most people are asleep for the final night-cycle of the Soterian Day.
Day and Night
Through modern technology standard regulations have a day/night cycle simulated within the facility's crew quarters and common areas working on the basis of morning, day, and night shifts which lights programmed to brighten over the course of this simulated day cycle based on which part of the Soterian Day it currently is.
Shifts
Since there are 3 day-lengths the primary length of 22 hours are considered prime days while the off-day of 23 hours is considered stretch days.
Prime Days

- Morning 0500-1200
- Beta
