The Eaiza system was originally colonized in 2352 by a Federation company Avery Ales and Wines as an agricultural colony for the production of food stuffs relating to fermentation of various alcoholic products. In 2372 the colony had become so successful that the company moved its headquarters to the first planet, Eaiza Prime. When the Serenity Concord was formed the planet voted to transition from Federation rule to fall under the Concord. Elections took place in 2382 after they signed a treaty of incorporation severing political ties with the United Federation of Planets and officially becoming part of the Concord earlier that year.
Eaiza Prime
Class: | M |
Distance: | 7.93 x 107 (0.53 AU) |
Period: | 88.33 Days |
Radius: | 6,419.04 km (1.01 times Earth) |
Gravity: | 0.91 G |
The planet's surface is 56% water with 23% of that ice focused mostly around the poles. The planet is similar to Earth in both size and gravity with an off-axis tilt of only 8.6 degrees, meaning the seasons are far more consistent and mild. The planet itself was colonized in 2352 as an agricultural colony but now has expanded to include some industrial sectors as well. Primarily it is an agrarian planet with the headquarters of the Avery Ales and Wines company present. The planet's chief exports are various whole grains, fruits, and vegetables though it is particularly known for its export of spirits; particularly the Rocky Mountain Hops beer and White Rascal Ale, both distributed by the Avery Ales and Wines company. Biologists have several research facilities on the planet studying the unusually large natural varieties of yeast which evolved unique to this planet, which the brewing company uses to give its spirits a unique flavor not found anywhere else.
The planet's core is standard for a Class M world, iron and silicate. The atmosphere is particularly dense, which keeps the climate temperate. The world is also known for particularly awe-inspiring electrical storms, which along with several agrarian-based resorts and rehabilitation facilities provides a modest tourism trade.
In orbit around the station is a Class K Space Station called Asfahan Station, operated by the Concord to facilitate trade. The planet also has a Hermod Gate on the surface in the planet's main transit facility. There is also a Hyperspace Jump Gate in orbit as well.
Eaiza 2
Class: | P |
Distance: | 9.10 x 107 (0.61 AU) |
Period: | 218.3 Days |
Radius: | 5,428.77 km (0.85 of Earth) |
Gravity: | 0.94 G |
Eaiza 2 is a cold world entirely covered in permafrost glaciers, though still within the habitable zone of the star it is on the far edge. Surface temperatures are typical for a Class P world. There are an unusual number of radioactive isotopes in the atmosphere, possibly from planetary impacts or even potentially remnants from ancient inhabitants. Tectonic activity provides heat to the deeper layers of ice which has created many under-ice oceans of liquid water, though they are typically low-light. Bioluminescent algae and other simple multicellular life forms are still present in this region. Archeological activities on the planet indicate that it was once home to an advanced civilization of ice-dwellers, though little is known about them. There are a number of archeological digs on the surface and it is actively used as a source of deuterium fuel. Several deuterium mining facilities exist on the surface as well as a dozen or so research facilities with focuses ranging from archeological to microbial. Archeological digs have found artifacts that suggest the presence of advanced technology, though no major artifacts have been found yet.
Svaornia Belt
The first of two asteroid belts. This belt has a very high concentration of radioactive material and rare-earth metals giving it an intense magnetic field throughout. The belt itself is reasonably dense and orbits with a mean distance of 1.27 x 108 km or 0.85 AU from the star. It has a mean depth of about 250,000 km though this varies by several thousand km depending the specific location in the belt. Some asteroids also show evidence of refined metals, this is under active research by the Concord in partnership with the Vulcan Science Academy.
Eaiza 3
Class: | C |
Distance: | 1.35 AU |
Period: | Unknown |
Radius: | 4,049.77 km (0.64 of Earth) |
Gravity: | 0.65 G |
Eaiza 3 is a rather unremarkable world in most respects. It has average properties for a Class C world with trace amounts of atmosphere, mostly hydrogen and helium. There is a prominent system of rings around the planet, mostly frozen hydrocarbons and ice.
Eaiza 4
Class: | P |
Distance: | 2.53 AU |
Period: | 5.09 Years |
Radius: | 6,851.93 km (1.08 times Earth) |
Gravity: | 0.38 G |
The planet's core is relatively small and composed of magnesium and iron, thick layers of ice mixed with frozen hydrocarbons form the bulk of the planet. As such it has a relatively weak gravitational field even though it is similar in size to Earth. The atmosphere is thin composed mostly of nitrogen and argon with trace amounts of oxygen.
Eaiza 5
Class: | P4 |
Distance: | Unknown |
Period: | 11.52 Years |
Radius: | 9,041.49 km (1.42 times Earth) |
Gravity: | 0.51 G |
Similar to it's neighbor, Eaiza 4. Relatively small core composed of silicon and magnesium with thick layers of ice and frozen hydrocarbons making up the bulk of the planetary mass. Unlike its neighbor though, this planet has a thicker atmosphere of oxygen and argon. There are also deep fissures in the ice which contain seas of liquid methane, which is very uncommon to Class P worlds of any size.
Eaiza 6
Class: | P4 |
Distance: | Unknown |
Period: | 27.9 Years |
Radius: | 10,766.81 km (1.69 times Earth) |
Gravity: | 0.60 G |
One of the largest Class P planets ever charted, it has a thick atmosphere of oxygen, argon, nitrogen, and ammonia. The bulk of the planetary mass is composed of ice over a relatively small core composed of iron and magnesium with trace amounts of silicon and carbon.
Eaiza 7
Class: | I |
Distance: | 16.64 AU |
Period: | Unknown |
Radius: | 16,024.81 km (2.52 times Earth |
Gravity: | 0.87 G |
This world has a similar composition to the large Class P neighbors at its core, although with an even smaller. The small core is mostly composed of iron, ice, and frozen methane. It has a thick and composed of hydrogen and helium. Thin layers of liquid ammonia mixed with ice cover the surface of the core itself like thin oceans.
Avankor Belt
The second and final asteroid belt orbiting at a mean distance of 35.39 AU from Eaiza. It is significantly less dense than it's cousin closer to the star and composed mostly of iron, nickel, and aluminum with traces of lead, silver, and titanium also present. It has a mean depth of 150,000 km throughout with very little variation, only 550 km.
