Background

Rai was Originally summoned in Konoha by Kaito Senju as a white snake to use in combat during his exams as a summoning animal, after some time he and developing a close bond to Kaito he was later told he could become a summon companion. After thinking for a bit Rai took his chance to be more than just a snake summon. He accepted and was given the power to transform into a human and snake, later being able to transform into Kaitos Lightning sword after he was forged into one
