The 22nd century shuttlepod design was used by Starfleet and later the United Federation of Planets to transport personnel and supplies to and from ships, starbases, and planets throughout the 22nd and early 23rd centuries. Designed to be small, sub-light ships that could operate effectively in both atmospheric conditions and the vacuum of space. They were also easy to store aboard ship where space was at a premium due to their small size.
