Kate is the usual hot-headed aviator, a little self-confident and way too brave for her own good.

Background
Katelyn always had a fascination with piloting. Her mother flew passenger shuttles to and from the various districts of Chicago, and beyond. Very frequently, Kate would tag along as an honorary co-pilot. She ate up all the information she could get ahold of, and by middle school she could fly with her mother's supervision with relative skill.
It only made sense that she would go the way of UNSC Naval Command, taking Navy JROTC and ROTC in high school and college respectively. With a bachelor's degree in physical science, she commissioned as an Ensign to begin Flight Training School.
The Covenant invaded around this time, and before Katelyn could finish her training they were assaulting huge population centers like Epsilon Eridanis IV, and Jericho VIII. Kate started off flying Pelicans to provide emergency evacuations to civilians and combat teams on the ground, before moving on to Shortswords and now Longsword interceptors. She is the Flight Wingman to Commander Jason P Kits.
