There is a tight knit, though often contemptuous, association of Vampires which take their part in running the affairs of the world. They are known as the Court of Thorns, though in ages past they were known as the Court of Blood or Court of the Blood Soaked Rose.
Organization
At the head of the court is a High King, this goes to the eldest Vampire of the group by an election of his peers. There are few things that such Vampires love more than the game of houses which takes place in order to elect a new High King. This Vampire has nearly total authority over all, but spends it wisely.
The High King is elected into place by the Kings, each continent has a King, who presides over the goings on of Vampires (and thus often times Humans and others) within that continent. Below the Kings are Councilors which form the Council for each continent, they are put into power by the King and are not necessarily set up as one per country, but often per region. Though in Europe or Africa it is common to have a single Councilor for each country, though in Russia, China, the United States, and India they all have multiple Councilors.
Each Councilor has people under him or her but the names vary depending on region, in the United States they are often called Lieutenants, but in Europe they are often called Bishops.
