The Horizon Class space craft is a passenger cruise ship designed by Excalibur Inc. and used by Infinity Ltd. for extended pleasure cruises throughout space. It is also fully capable of landing both with and without a docking or landing facility and has enough supplies in a standard run to support the crew and passengers for up to 10 months of normal operations. In emergency conditions this supply lengthens to up to 18 months without support. Defensively the ship has no weapons to speak of but has an impressive shield system able to operate at full power even at emergency warp speed.

Typically a Horizon Class ship also contains an ALICE Interface, though some ships were upgraded with QUINN AI systems for the most elite lines.

Typical Cruise

Typically this class ship has a 5 or 6 month cruising course warping at high speed to a particular destination and spending a week at each destination. About 2 out of every 3 destinations is a planet or space station with support capabilities and the ability to drop off or pick up passengers and crew as needed. In a large system the cruise may only spend a few days at a selection of planets and any interesting phenomena in such a system before leaving.

Design

The unique space engine design uses 4 smaller warp nacelles built into the superstructure of the ship, each having its own independent smaller reactor and engineering space coordinated from the bridge in the nose of the space craft. To maintain the sleek appearance the docking, umbilical, and cargo facilities are hidden behind doors that flush with the outside skin to create an even finish.
