The hammer, Wicked Nethersbane, was created by a tortured soul from the spine and skull of its tormentor. Created in a fever fueled by anger, hate, and fear the hammer inspires fear when it is seen and that fear fuels its power. It also not only draws on the hate and anger of its wielder, but pulls to the surface such emotions as well. As the power intensifies the head of the hammer becomes hot until it glows deep red. The hammer's heat cannot be defeated, and as such it can pummel through almost any object or person brining heat up from the darkest pits of hell when it strikes.
History
The act of killing the demon and then using its bones to create the hammer started the soul who created it on a journey to become a demon himself. Used to create the Abyssal Shard while still in the abyss of hell, the hammer stayed there for eons. Having been found again by the former-man who created it, this new demon used his hammer to tear down barriers between worlds and invade them, pulling the souls of the damned back to the abyss when they escaped.
Legend has it that in one such case, the demon fought a man with as much hatred and ire as the demon himself and he turned the hammer on its creator, stealing it away and smashing in his skull with it. Keeping the hammer and using it to forge new weapons and armor for the living. Each imbued with raw power from the abyss.
