The official designation of Potsdam Station is CLP-549-D but at some point in time the station was given it's name as a nod to the old Earth conflict known as the "Cold War" during the mid to late 20th century, in particular where secret meetings between East and West Germany were held in the train station of Potsdam.
It is a Platform Station operated by Section 31. The station is located right about 90 lightyears from the Terran System in deep space. It is unique in that it is fully equipped with stealth technologies, the hull is made of an energy refracting material and dampening field generators are incoperated into the shield grid. In addition, it is equipped with a cloaking device and long range holographic projectors.
Offensive Systems
- 16 twin phaser pulse turrets
- 4 photon torpedo launchers
Defensive Systems
- Deflector Shields
- Stealthy Technology
Crew
Standard operating compliment of 5 people switched off in 6-18 month intervals. Beaming to and from the station is blocked by transport inhibitors built into the hull, though they can be shut down if necessary. The cloaking field extends out from the station for roughly 500 meters in a sphereoid shape. Docking facilities support shuttles or runabouts via landing on one of the platforms.
History
Previously this outpost was home to several different engineering projects conducted in secret. Between 2311 and 2362 the station was home to support ships and four drydocks for various ship classes. In 2362 the station was retasked as a communications hub for covert operations rather than an experimental research center. At this time the drydocks were removed and the deep subspace broadcasting array were installed.
