The lygon is a particle named by the greek verb bend, plural form is lygons, pronounced l-EYE-gone.

Creation

Lygons are created using an Oscillating Mercury Core. They are short lived particles that are difficult to store, requiring infusion into high energy plasma.

Effects on Space

When infused into high energy plasma, Lygons bend space-time around them depending on the particular modulation and geometry of the plasma field they are in. This allows spacetime to be warped in controlled ways. They can produce extreme shifts if gravitational currents but due to their short life span the effects are difficult to maintain for more than a few moments.

Uses

Primarily used to in the Gravitational Displacement Drive to fold space into a controlled gravity well.
