Miles’s general body type is that of a slightly skinny, but fit human. He has red salmon-like scales covering his body, which are slightly more angular than fish scales. He has a pair of fins on the side of his head, that open or close depending on his emotion al state. These scales close over his ear-holes instinctively when he is immersed in water. He had no nose, instead having a pair of diagonal slits where a human’s nose would be. His eyes have cross-shaped pupils, and have yellow sclera. He lacks teeth, instead possessing baleen like a whale, and a dense pad of thickened gum pads for chewing. His species evolved from bottom-feeding fish, granting him his baleen and several other biological differences from humans. He has a set of gills just under his ribs. His flesh is structured similarly to salmon flesh.
Personality
Miles is a cynical tough guy, owing to his years in the army and his frequent dealings with criminals. He perfectly fits into the Hardboiled Noir Detective character type. He frequently wisecracks and is addicted to both Cigars and alcohol, particularly his own Infinite Cigar and cheap whiskey. Underneath the wisecracking, hard-drinking, tough private eye exterior, Miles is quietly contemplative and philosophical and enjoys chess and poetry. While he is not afraid to risk physical harm, he does not dish out violence merely to settle scores.
Special Skills
Miles was drafted into warfare at a young age, and his Combat Training allows him to use most guns effectively. He is also a survivalist, and is gifted with great logical skill.
Special Abilities
He is capable of breathing water, as is the rest of his species. This ability is activated whenever water makes contact with his scales, which often causes him to choke while attempting to breathe with his gills. He possesses mild pyrokinesis, which allows his to ignite objects over three meters. He possesses a nanite-infused infinite cigar, that can transform into a naginata for short periods of time (About 30 minutes at a time)
History
Backstory
Born to Deteokeana miners and raised by human slaves, Miles was never expected to amount to much by his peers. He was constantly taunted due to his naivety and passive demeaner. He was pressured to join the military at the age of 17 by his adopted brother. During his military service, he was greatly affected by the tragedies of war, which changed him into the sarcastic pessimist he is today. After a leg injury put an end to his run in the military, he took up residence in the Deteokeana homeworld, Picean and set up a detective agency
