The first of the two gemstones, called Twin Keystones. The Alpha Keystone originate in the Gamma Quadrant and is thought to have been created by an ancient capable of manipulating many forms of energy, as well as convert them from one form of energy to another. While this practice is known as Enerbending, it is nearly impossible to learn without an assistant artifact that makes the user sensible to it.

The Alpha Keystone is considered to be the first of those assistant artifacts to be ever created for the purpose of learning Enerbending, along with the Omega Keystone. Its sole purpose is to make the wearer more sensible to the energies in Enerbending, althought it can still make the wearer sensible to other forms of energy. This is evident with Sarah, the current owner of the Artifact. It makes her aware of the psionic energies inside of her, whether they are becoming dangerous to her life or if they are on safe levels.

History

The Alpha Keystone was cut from a raw gemstone of the same name, with properties similar to quartz but with its own unique properties before the cut. The excess became dust and was used in the casting of the chain that holds it. The same chain also has dust of the raw gemstone that eventually became the Omega Keystone, being what binds the two artifacts. Analysis reveal that this artifact is at least twenty thousand Earth years old.

The pendant was passed on to different people throughout the centuries until it was given to Sarah to help her in her awareness of her own psionic nature. Alone, it is harmless. When around the neck of the user, it makes it more sensible to specific energies, as long as the user knows what to look for. it also possess an unique radioactive signature, being easily identifiable and traceable as long as the sensors know the formula of the keystone itself.
