The system has been surveyed previously using long range probes. Analysis indicates that it may have once been occupied advanced alien civilization who may colonized one of the moons in the system. There are alien ruins consistent with humanoid colonization using pressure domes on the moon of the third planet. In addition to the ruins there are 2 distinct metallic masses which are consistent with crashed small starships, one on the moon of the third planet and one on the 4th planet. Although it is unlikely that life evolved here naturally, this does not preclude the possibility of colonization by an ancient but advanced alien race in the distant past.
Anararus Belt
An asteroid belt orbiting Gamma Ovalos at a distance of just 2.55 x 107 km or 0.17 AU, this dense asteroid field has a mean depth of 15,000 km varying +/- 200 km. It is composed of mostly igneous silica and basalt, possible the remnant of a planetary collision.
Gamma Ovalos 1
Class: | P4 |
Distance: | 4.65 x 107 (0.31 AU) |
Period: | 120.4 Days |
Radius: | 9,168.86 km (1.44 times Earth) |
Gravity: | 1.36 G |
An unusual world, much larger than most worlds of this type. It has a typical composition for most Class P worlds other than a higher than average content of heavy / transuranic metals. Due to its gravity the planet has a fairly thick atmosphere composed of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide with a surface entirely covered in a thick layer of ice. The atmosphere is able to trap most of what solar heat the planet is exposed to and the core is quite active. A layer of liquid water exists over most of the surface 1-3 miles beneath the surface ice where a wide variety of bioluminescent bacteria have evolved.
Dravis Belt
A spare asteroid belt circling at a mean distance of 9.50 x 107 km or 0.63 AU from Gamma Ovalos, composed mostly of common ores (iron, magnesium, and chromium ores). It has an average depth of 12,000 km but varies widely by +/- 2,700 km.
Gamma Ovalos 2
Class: | V |
Distance: | 1.16 AU |
Period: | 2.4 Years |
Radius: | 11,680.80 km (1.83 times Earth) |
Gravity: | 2.45 G |
Gamma Ovalos 3 is a very large terrestrial world with a thick atmosphere which traps volcanic heat to maintain a rather high surface temperature. The planet's gravity maintains extremely high pressure at the surface, which also contributes to the high surface temperature. While unsuitable for humanoid life, some pressure-resistant forms of eukaryotic organisms. These organisms do not thrive but manage to metabolize various hydrocarbons to survive in near total darkness. They are not bioluminescent but are phosphoric giving off small amounts of ultraviolet light when exposed to intense heat. Orbiting is a Class P moon, larger than most moons.
Gamma Ovalos 2 Moon
Class: | P2 |
Distance: | 6.92 x 105 km |
Period: | 1.34 Days |
Radius: | 2606.1 km |
Gravity: | 0.7 G |
Larger than most moons, this is a Class P moon composed of iron, aluminum, and some rare-earth metals. It is completely glaciated with frozen small-chain hydrocarbons and ice. Evidence suggests that a civilization may have one inhabited this world through he use of pressure domes and alien artifacts likely exist on the surface. Wreckage of a crashed starship exist on this world, suggesting a survey ship may have been caught in the atmosphere and crashed. Intense electromagnetic storms are common on the surface with high velocity winds and sudden microbursts.
Gamma Ovalos 3
Class: | I |
Distance: | 2.08 AU |
Period: | 5.72 Years |
Radius: | 16,617 km |
Gravity: | 0.93 G |
A somewhat small Class I world. A small rocky core with layers of frozen hydrocarbons / ice. The atmosphere is composed of mostly helium and hydrogen. There is a unique imbalance in the atmosphere compared to most Class I worlds, there is far more helium than hydrogen in the atmosphere than one would expect. The crushed hull of a small starship can be detected crashed on the rocky core.
Unique Features
These unique features were detected on closer scan of the planet.
- Crashed Ship
- The ancient starship, known as the Ves'kar, lies in a state of ruin on the rocky core of the Class I world. This extraterrestrial vessel, estimated to be several thousand years old, bears witness to the advanced technology and craftsmanship of the long-lost Ves'kar race. The Ves'kar, an enigmatic civilization, piloted the ship with its sleek and streamlined design. Its shattered hull, composed of advanced alloys, hints at the glory of its prime. The crash of the Ves'kar starship has become a captivating archeological site, enticing scholars and explorers who are fascinated by the vessel's age and the mysteries it holds.
- Unusual Light Reflection
- Due to the high concentration of helium in the atmosphere, the planet possesses a mesmerizing visual phenomenon. When sunlight interacts with the helium particles, it creates a diffused, ethereal glow that permeates the atmosphere. During the day, the sky takes on a soft, lavender hue, giving the entire planet a dreamlike appearance. As the sun sets, the helium-infused atmosphere refracts light, producing vibrant bands of colors streaking across the horizon. This phenomenon, known as "Helioshimmer," creates breathtaking sunsets and sunrises, with hues ranging from brilliant pinks and purples to golden yellows.
- Frozen Hydrocarbon/Ice Structures
- The layers of frozen hydrocarbons and ice on the planet's surface form striking and fantastical structures. Towering ice spires rise from the ground, their surfaces glistening with iridescent hues due to the mineral impurities present in the ice. Vast fields of crystalline structures stretch across the landscape, sparkling under the planet's unique light. These structures have intricate patterns and shapes, resembling delicate frozen sculptures, adding an otherworldly beauty to the planet.
- Unique Magnetic Field
- The presence of the crushed starship on the rocky core has disrupted the planet's magnetic field, resulting in localized magnetic anomalies. These anomalies create fluctuating magnetic fields across the surface, leading to intriguing effects. Metallic objects in close proximity to these areas might experience unpredictable movement or exhibit strange magnetic properties. Navigational instruments become unreliable near these anomalies, making navigation a challenge. Additionally, some of the magnetic disturbances have formed areas of temporary electromagnetic fields, where vibrant displays of shimmering lights dance across the sky, creating mesmerizing aurora-like phenomena known as "Stellar Veils."
