Template:Miranda Class She is in the service of the United Federation of Planets. The ship was on speed trials of a new warp nacelle design when it appeared to exploded during the trial. While the investigation could find no debris the ship was declared lost with all hands. It was one of the first ships to experiment with trans-warp technology and while the trials resulted in it being destroyed ultimately the results allowed for the construction of the USS Excelsior.

Service History

  • Commissioned in 2268
  • Assigned to fleet command duties around Rigel system in 2269
  • Assigned to fleet engineering operations near Romulan Neutral Zone in 2274
  • Assigned to combat patrol along Romulan Neutral Zone in 2276
  • Heavily damaged in boarder skirmish along Romulan Neutral Zone in 2278
  • Major refit and repair in 2280
  • Assigned to specialized advanced warp field testing for Vulcan Science Academy after specialized refit in 2281
  • Lost contact in 2283

Final Contact

After the ship was lost contact, the crew was killed when the warp drive malfunctioned and a subspace implosion occurred. This (unknown to anyone at the time) sent the ship into a subspace domain separate from normal space-time. The transitioned killed the entire crew, effectively reducing them to a liquid or gelatinous state. With no one left aboard to monitor ship systems the main drive system was rendered completely inoperative, while there is still deuterium to fuel the drive, the automated system jettisoned the antimatter when power to sustain containment failed.

The ship was left adrift, emergency power and reserve battery power are still intact.
