Family
His parents are both dead, but while they died it wasn't anything tragic, they both died of natural causes. They did not know he was a werewolf but he kept in contact with him. His position in the Navy allowed them not never really wonder why he was gone so much. They were both very proud of him.
History
He was the foremost fighter of "strange things" in the military. If it wasn't human and yet wasn't an animal his team and him were sent to kill it. This team was tragically killed at a demonic gateway at Chernobyl in Russia near the end of the cold war. After a lot of counseling he eventually came to terms with their deaths going on to do some solo work in the Nevada desert after strange sightings of what most people thought were "Aliens" but turned out to actually be low-level demons.
Cap's 1978 Land Cruiser
Several modifications have been made to his truck.
His truck is outfitted with a complete surveillance kit that retracts into the hood of the truck and is completely computer controlled. On the top of the truck there is a low profile satellite dish as well as a radar system, also computer controlled. Whisper mode is also added from white-noise based noise cancellation for silent operation. The truck has the capacity to direct connect to cellular towers, satellite systems, as well as all wifi (802.11) standards. Analog communications include Short Wave, Marine, HAM, Police, Fire, Medical, CB, Air, and Military bands with full encryption and computer transport support on any channel.
Inside the truck the front is equipped with a toughbook laptop on a swing arm for use while driving. The dash has been modified to allow easy access to activating various systems.
Other modifications include countermeasures, the truck is capable of producing a single EMP (which will also kill the truck's systems if not already off) as well as ejecting flash-bangs from the front and rear (4 each direction) and an old school oil slick.
History
Family
The Triskel family, rooted in the scenic Bay Area of California, was a harmonious blend of diverse passions, from marine biology to music. United by their unwavering bond and shared adventures, their home was a haven of laughter, storytelling, and melodies, with the Pacific Ocean's whispers echoing their shared love for nature and each other. Their close-knit ties and shared values made the Triskels a beacon of warmth and unity in their community.
- James Triskel (Father)
- James was a tall, broad-shouldered man with a rugged beard and a penchant for storytelling. He worked as a marine biologist, often taking his family on weekend trips to the coast to explore tide pools and observe marine life. James had a deep respect for nature and instilled in his children the importance of preserving the environment. His tales of underwater adventures and mysterious sea creatures captivated young Daren, igniting a sense of wonder and curiosity in him.
- Marianne Triskel (Mother)
- Marianne was a gentle soul with a heart full of compassion. She worked as a schoolteacher, and her love for children was evident in the way she nurtured her own. Marianne was the glue that held the family together, ensuring that despite their busy lives, they always had time for each other. She had a soft spot for gardening, a hobby that Daren would later inherit. Marianne's garden was her sanctuary, filled with vibrant flowers and aromatic herbs, and she often spent her afternoons tending to it with Daren by her side.
- Elena Triskel (Older Sister)
- Elena, the eldest of the Triskel siblings, was fiercely protective of her younger siblings. With her sharp wit and outgoing nature, she was the life of every family gathering. Elena pursued a career in journalism, often traveling to different parts of the country for her stories. Despite her busy schedule, she always made time for her family, sharing tales of her travels and bringing back unique souvenirs for her siblings.
- Sophie Triskel (Younger Sister)
- Sophie, the baby of the family, was a free spirit with a passion for music. She played the guitar and had a voice that could melt hearts. Sophie and Daren shared a special bond; they would often sit in the backyard, with Sophie strumming her guitar and Daren humming along. Their impromptu jam sessions became a cherished family tradition. As she grew older, Sophie dreamt of making it big in the music industry and often credited Daren for being her biggest cheerleader.
Early Life
Daren Triskel, born amidst the vibrant hues of the 1978 Bay Area, grew up shadowing his elder sister Elena and guiding his younger sister Sophie. The trio's childhood was marked by the typical sibling rivalries and shared secrets, with the backdrop of the late '80s and early '90s bringing its own set of challenges. As the economic recession of the early '90s loomed, tensions occasionally flared within the household, with Elena, on the brink of adulthood, clashing with her parents over her budding journalistic ambitions and the societal expectations of the time. Daren, caught in the middle, often played peacemaker, while also navigating his own adolescent struggles, from the pressures of high school to the complexities of teenage friendships. Sophie, with her musical dreams, often found solace in her melodies, providing a soothing soundtrack to the family's ups and downs. Through all the trials and tribulations, the Triskel siblings emerged with an even stronger bond, their shared experiences forging an unbreakable connection that would stand the test of time.
Sibling Bonds
In the summer of 1992, just before Daren was set to begin high school, the Triskel siblings stumbled upon a situation that would test their bond like never before. Elena, having recently acquired her driver's license, borrowed their father's cherished '85 Chevrolet Camaro for a day out with her friends. However, in a moment of teenage recklessness, she let Daren take the wheel in an empty parking lot, with Sophie cheering from the backseat. Daren, inexperienced and overconfident, lost control of the car, crashing it into a lamppost. The damage was significant, and the Camaro, which held sentimental value for their father, was beyond simple repair.
The initial shock gave way to blame and guilt. Elena regretted her decision, Daren was consumed with remorse, and Sophie, although the youngest, felt responsible for egging them on. The siblings knew they had to face their parents, but before doing so, they decided to take matters into their own hands. Pooling their savings, they sought out a local mechanic known for restoring vintage cars. While the cost was steep and their combined savings fell short, the mechanic, sensing their genuine remorse, agreed to a deferred payment plan.
Over the next few months, the Triskel siblings took up odd jobs around the neighborhood, from mowing lawns to babysitting, to pay off the debt. The incident, while initially driving a wedge between them, eventually brought them closer together. They learned the values of responsibility, teamwork, and facing the consequences of their actions. By the time the Camaro was restored and returned, the Triskels had not only repaired a car but also solidified their bond in a way that few experiences could.
High School
Daren Triskel's high school years at Berkeley High School in the Bay Area were a juxtaposition of athleticism and intellectual pursuits. On the football field, he was a force to be reckoned with, his tall stature and linebacker build making him a natural fit for the team. The camaraderie and unity he felt with his teammates echoed the strong sense of family he had grown up with. Every touchdown, every tackle, every victory chant was a testament to the collective spirit that Daren cherished so deeply.
However, off the field, Daren's world was vastly different. He was an avid reader, often losing himself in the works of classic literature and philosophy. His teachers recognized his keen intellect and often encouraged him to participate in academic debates and competitions. But this duality often left Daren feeling out of place. His fellow athletes couldn't understand his passion for literature, while his intellectual peers often dismissed the merits of sports. It was a constant balancing act, trying to fit into two worlds that seemed so diametrically opposed.
Yet, it was this very dichotomy that allowed Daren's leadership qualities to flourish. He became a bridge between the jocks and the nerds, often mediating disputes and fostering understanding between the two groups. His ability to see the value in both worlds made him a respected figure in school. By his senior year, Daren was not only the captain of the football team but also the president of the school's debate club. His unique journey through high school taught him that true leadership wasn't about fitting into a mold but about embracing one's multifaceted identity and using it to bring people together.
Unity Day
In Daren Triskel's junior year at Berkeley High School, he faced an unprecedented dilemma: the state football championship clashed with the National High School Debate Finals. As captain and lead debater, the pressure was immense. Whispers of doubt echoed through the corridors, and Daren felt torn between two worlds he loved deeply. In a burst of inspiration, he envisioned "Berkeley Unity Day" - a fusion of intellect and athleticism, with a morning debate followed by an evening football game.
The day dawned with the school awash in blue and gold. Daren's debate performance was electrifying, his words resonating with passion and conviction. As evening approached, he swapped his debate suit for a football jersey, leading his team to a hard-fought victory under the stadium lights. The day culminated in a poignant moment: both teams united, lifting Daren in a triumphant celebration, symbolizing the unity he had championed.
Yet, the journey to this day was an emotional rollercoaster for Daren. One evening, feeling the weight of the world, he found solace in a conversation with the school's wise janitor, Mr. Garcia. Garcia's tales of youthful crossroads and the importance of authenticity resonated deeply. Embracing this wisdom, Daren realized that true leadership wasn't about juggling roles but about forging paths that reflected one's true self. This epiphany transformed Daren, shaping him into a beacon of genuine leadership.
Military Service
Upon graduating from Berkeley High School, Daren's innate leadership and unwavering determination led him to join the US Navy. His potential was evident from the outset, and he swiftly ascended the ranks, earning the respect and admiration of both peers and superiors. His prowess didn't go unnoticed, and soon he was on a trajectory to become a Navy Seal.
However, Daren's journey took an unexpected turn during his time at West Point. In his third year, a fateful encounter during a training exercise in the dense woods surrounding the academy changed his life forever. He, along with several of his peers, was bitten by a creature that they would later come to understand was a werewolf. The transformation was both physical and psychological, endowing Daren with heightened senses, strength, and abilities, but also presenting a new set of challenges and responsibilities.
The Navy, recognizing the unique capabilities of these newly transformed individuals, saw an opportunity. Upon their graduation from West Point, Daren and his fellow werewolf cadets were discreetly recruited into a top-secret Navy Seal team. This elite unit, operating in the shadows, was tasked with handling supernatural and unexplained phenomena that posed threats beyond the scope of conventional military operations. Their training was intense, combining the rigorous regimen of the Seals with specialized preparation for paranormal encounters. Daren, with his dual background in intellectual debate and athletic prowess, quickly emerged as a key figure in the team, leading them on missions that blurred the lines between reality and the supernatural.
Early Retirement
In 2014, a mission to Chernobyl forever altered the trajectory of Daren's life. Surveillance satellites had detected an anomaly at the site of the nuclear disaster. Given the regenerative abilities of Daren and his team, they were uniquely qualified to handle the mission, as they could withstand the radiation for extended periods.
Upon arrival, the team discovered a chilling scene. The intense radiation had torn a rift in the fabric of reality, and from this fissure, demons had emerged. These creatures thrived on the radiation, drawing strength from it, and were themselves radioactive, leaving a trail of contamination in their wake. The desolate landscape of Chernobyl became a battleground, with Daren and his team fighting not just against the demons but also against the ticking clock of radiation exposure.
As days turned into weeks, the team's numbers dwindled. The demons, relentless and empowered by the radiation, picked them off one by one. The emotional and physical toll on Daren was immense, watching comrades fall while battling an enemy that seemed insurmountable. In a desperate final act, Daren, drawing on his training and sheer willpower, managed to place and detonate a shaped charge of C4 around the rift, sealing it shut. However, the victory came at a devastating cost. Many demons had already spread into the surrounding areas, and Daren was the sole survivor of his team.
The aftermath was grueling. Daren was subjected to intensive debriefings and investigations. The emotional scars ran deep, and it became evident that he was suffering from severe PTSD. Recognizing his valor and the immense sacrifice of his team, the U.S. government awarded Daren and his fallen comrades the Congressional Medal of Honor. Daren's military career, marked by unparalleled bravery and sacrifice, culminated in an early retirement, allowing him to grapple with the haunting memories of that fateful mission in Chernobyl.
Life Outside the Teams
After his retirement, Daren embarked on a quest for belonging, seeking to fill the void left by the loss of his team, his pack. He ventured into various communities, from veterans' groups to those acquainted with the supernatural. Each welcomed him, recognizing his valor and unique experiences. Yet, no matter the group, Daren felt out of place. The deep bond, the shared purpose, and the unspoken understanding he had with his pack were elusive. He was caught between seeking solace and ensuring the safety of himself and those he encountered, forever marked by the battles he'd fought and the pack he'd lost.
